 Full Review

The Asko W6222 is a compact front load washing machine with many unique features such as ultra-gentle hand-wash and wool-wash programs, a leak protection system, and a rinse cycle designed to prevent skin irritation caused by detergent residues. It has a good selection of presets that can be customized to suit any type of laundry load.

The Asko W6222 has 3 spin speeds with a maximum of 1200 RPM. Water levels are adjusted automatically depending on the amount of laundry. Water temperature can be adjusted from cold all the way up to 205 degrees F.

The electronic controls on this washing machine are well laid out. Indicator lights tell you which cycle and options have been selected, and the wash cycles are printed on the control panel and the remaining cycle time is displayed in an LED window. The SmoothDial™ controls on the Asko W6222 have a solid feel and are easy to operate.

The Asko W6222 is available in white or titanium and the tub and outer tanks are made from heavy-duty stainless steel which never rust, chip or absorb odors. The washing machine has an internal heater for optimal temperatures throughout the entire wash cycle.

This is a quiet washing machine thanks to the four-shock suspension and load balancing system which is a feature of all Asko washing machines. This makes it one of the easiest front loaders to install. The energy rating of 209 kWHrs per year is very economical and it comes with a one year Parts and Labor warranty.

In Use

The W6222 is a good performer thanks to its frontloading design. It is very gentle on the clothes and very quiet in operation. It is not as finicky as other brands of front loaders because it has an internal shock absorbing system to reduce vibration. Although one of the most expensive washing machines on the market the W6222 cleans better than most other machines and is one of the most economical washing machines to operate.

Extra quiet. expensive but worth it. Uses very little soap, very little electricity, 1/2 the H2O that my previous washer uses. Down side: long cycles, small load sizes. Up side: quiet, efficient, cleanest clothes we've had and uses very little soap, fits under a standard 36" height and 25 1/2" deep countertop.

BIG LITTLE MACHINE ~~!!, Wednesday, 27 January 2010

Asko W6222, bought in Jan 2010. Had the Asko both in one machine unit in a condo, and admired the efficiency and quality, so decided to replace standard US units with Swedish Asko. VERY well designed and high quality, but NOT for big family washing, or manic launderers!! Be advised that the washer is 220 and plugs into the dryer which is also 220, but plugs into USA dryer electricals, which are 220. If your laundry area has both plugs, no problem. Very clean wash, and highly efficient drying. Love that the Asko washer has an 'inner' drum in which the spin cycles occur, so that there is no wobble or vibration. Door is very secure and pops open at the end of wash. Also, the on/off button totally turns off these machines when not in use, which cancels any 'on call' to power, thus saving on electric bills, too. Asko is about quality.

So far so good, Friday, 04 December 2009

Like the other reviewers I was replacing an older Asko (also about 13 years old) and it was also a "built in" installation under a cabinet. Unfortunately, the height of Asko's has increased about an inch since the last time, so I was forced to take out the shelf above them. Also, the previous owners didn't bother installing a hot water pipe (since the Asko only takes cold water and then heats it internally) so the only other machine I could have bought would have been a Miele (and add a Y), but then I would have had to add another electrical connection (since the Asko washer plugs into the back of the dryer). It was all a bit frustrating, and after going back and forth decided to take the least expensive route by buying another set of ASKO's. As my dryer broke first (paid almost $300 in service fees and they never could fix the problem), I located a new, but never used ASKO T702C with a small scratch and dent -- I didn't want the "C" (ventless), but the price was right ($300). It was much easier to use than the older Asko and except for being an inch taller, was a snap to install (just plug it in). The ventless dryer doesn't work all that well - you need to use the heavy setting for towels, and you shouldn't mix different clothes (with different drying needs), but once you get used to it, it's fine. I kept my eye out for a matching ASKO washing machine, and found one on Ebay for $1,000 -- brand new, direct from the factory. Full three year warranty. It was just some dealer getting rid of "dead" inventory I guess. Anyway, I wound up negotiating it down to $600 (plus $99 shipping) which is definitely the best deal I found after 6+ months of patiently looking. It arrived 4 days later. Installing it was a snap - the hardest part was getting it up the stairs. (I paid the driver $20 to help - best $20 I ever spent.) The settings are very straightforward, the only issue was the door - you really need to slam it (hard) the first few times to get it to shut. I even called customer service (notoriously terrible) and she said just slam it harder. btw, while I had customer service on the phone, I registered the dryer (I had already registered the washing machine online to get the extra year warranty - it goes to a full 3 years), and to my surprise and delight, there was still almost a year left on the dryer. Nice. With regard to the washer, there's no doubt about it, it really does clean well. The spin speed at 1200 does create a high pitched whirring noise, but it's not terrible. The capacity is definitely a little better than the old one - you could probably fit four bath towels (my wife would shove at least one more in there if I let her). I'm using Seventh Generation Free and Clear powder - one tablespoon (that's not a typo) in the main wash (per the manual). That's all it takes (because water consumption is so little). I can't talk to reliability yet, but so far performance is very good, and in terms of convenience, it was very, very good for me (because of the installation issues I was facing). I hope this helps ... there isn't much info about ASKO's in general, and hardly anything about this model. Putting it on a second floor was not a problem, at least in my house. The machine doesn't shake at all.

Just bought this machine after my old Asko stopped working after 13 years. If you want clean laundry this is the only way to go (Bosch and Miele being alternatives). The wash cycles take longer, because that is just how long it takes to get your laundry clean. For a two person household it takes about five loads a week. If you want clean clothes and not a ton of chemicals on your skin this is the way to go (traditional machines and look a like washers just do not do the job). I am a person that is very particular about cleanliness including laundry and I have been very happy with the results of the Asko

We bought this because the house we moved into had a built in area for the washer/dryer, not knowing that the previous owner ad this specialty built for the asko we had to buy the askos' because it was actually cheaper to do that than rip out the surround. These are great machines, the only draw back for us is that we have 5 kids, these are not keeping up with the dirty clothes as you can imagine. great for a family of 4 or less. they clean the clothes very well and you can tell the difference from other washers that leave more detergent residue.

very expensive machine. extrememly unreliable I have had multiple problems with the front panels cracking, motor burning up, transmission dying and control panel burning up. I see this as a 100+ calls to asko and $1600.00 lesson to not buy from this company again.

Can't plug the washing machine in US plugs, Sunday, 20 April 2008

Due to no information neither from the side of the seller nor from the side of Asko Company that this washer cannot be plugged into normal US 110 V plugs, I bought this machine, only to realise that I can't use it when it arrived.

I tried to complain to Asko at the hotline and I worte them a letter, but I didn't get an answer in weeks. It seems that they couldn't care less.

In order to make my new washing machine work I would have to buy an asko dryer aswell in order to plug the washer to the dryer, but I won't do it that because I'm so disappointed about this company.
