The Kenmore HE3 has 5 spin speeds and an automatic water level mechanism.  No more guessing how much water you need for a load of wash - the HE3 takes care of it for you. As for water temperature, it can be set to one of four levels.

This washing machine uses an efficient activator method and fabric softener and bleach can be dispensed during the wash cycle. There is also a detergent dispenser for use during the soak and hand wash cycles.

The Kenmore HE3 is available in either black or white and the tub is made from heavy-duty stainless steel. This guarantees years of reliable service.

As well as being one of the largest capacity home washing machines on the market, the Kenmore HE3 is also one of the most energy efficient.  It has a rating of just 176 kWHrs per year and comes with a one year Parts and Labor warranty.

The HE3 is very easy to use and does a great job washing clothes. It can easily handle large items like sleeping bags and comforters, and the delicate cycle is perfect for woolen sweaters or other clothes that normally require hand washing. The Kenmore HE3 is very quiet and uses surprisingly little water and electricity. Although many people may be put off by the high price, this washing machine will give years of service and is a stylish addition to the laundry room.

I have purchased Kenmore washers and dryers for 35 + years and based on my experiences with the Kenmore HE3 I will never purchase an appliance from Sears. I have had the H3 washer less than 7 years and part holding the tub is aluminum and this part disintegrated. Called Sears repair service and to make a very long story shots, it took them 45 days to fix the washer. Sixty days after the repair the machine break down again (same failure). SEARS product reliability and service is not what it was and they really need to remove the Sears name and start using KMART. I would expect this kind of reliability and service from KMART. I will never buy from Sears again!!!

Our last Kenmore ever!, Wednesday, 11 January 2012

We have owned our HE3 about 6.5 years and we have experienced most of the problems noted in other reviews: the foul, moldy smell that emanates from the washer (unless you leave the door and detergent drawer open whenever not in use), the difficulties in leveling and now, the flooding of our basement floor. We just found out the washer will cost more to fix than replace. Kenmore used to be synonymous with quality, craftmanship and reliability. Apparently, this is no longer the case. This will be the last Kenmore appliance we purchase.

I have had the H3 washer and dryer for less than 6 yrs, today i learn i have to buy a new washer!! the tub is made from stainless steel, but the parts holding the tub is made from aluminum, not compatible with laundry detergent, needless to say the cost of repairs are almost the same as what i paid for the machine, not worth it if you count the other repairs i have had to do to it as well, SEARS, you should be ashamed of yourselves knowing theses problems exist and not fixing the issues. They are not the same people you used to could buy with confidence.......I will never again buy a sears appliance again!!!

It's the best washer I've ever had. The front loaders clean the best without "wearing" out the clothes with an agitator. Everything comes out perfect. There's been no service issues and I use my washer daily for at least 2 loads.

We are very pleased. We bought the unit when first released. Yes we had a minor problem (a warranteed item) upon use with our first load. Received Timely Repair. The HE3 Great performance. We have had no problems or issues since we bought this machine years ago. We don't abuse the machine with overloading nor area rugs.

Based on our expereinces the Sears HE3 gets 5 STARS and our recommendation.

I hope the HE3 Lives as long as our Whirlpool Dryer 31 years and counting....

 Kenmore H3 problems, Wednesday, 13 July 2011

The Kenmore H3 front loading washer, top rated by Consumer Reports, leaks, smells and is infested with mold. These problems are typical with these machines. Like others, the bellows (large rubber ring that seals the door) on our machine holds water behind that never drains, creating mold and a putrid smell on laundry. Like many others, the bottom left corner of the bellows has torn due to an apparent design flaw causing water to drain onto the floor. Sears should have recalled these washers but has stonewalled instead. Consumer Reports, to the best of my knowledge, has not owned up to its error.

Our HE3 developed a mold problem and the only cure was to leave the door open and tray pulled out when not in use. The fill valve failed overnight, fill the tub with water and flooded our basement. Tech says same problem would have occurred if door had been closed since it only locks when a cycle starts. Tub doesnt self drain without the pump running.

A bad design ( front load - mold) problem has created a mess.

DONT BUY FRONT LOAD WASHERS!

After my 30 year old washing machine broke we decided to buy this Kenmore HE3 and after 3 years I was told by the Sears repairman that it will cost me $1000 to repair it. That's the amount I paid for the machine!!!! Please stay away from this washer. To top it off, Sears charged me $80 to come out to tell me my machine is a piece of junk!

I bought the very FIRST edition of the Kenmore HE3. Now that its about 6 years old.........OH MY LORD, there are no words to describe the STENCH that is permanently and forever HIDDEN in that thing. I've cleaned every inch that I am physically capable of "getting to" with vinegar..........WITHOUT SO MUCH AS AN IOTA of difference. What a HUGE waste of money this was....Not only that, but if you want to do a "stat" load, it aint gonna happen. The minimum is 35 minutes, and that's the end of it. No less, period.......unless you pull your clothes out dripping wet. DON'T BUY IT, DON'T BOTHER. I regret it EVERYDAY, and wish that I had a REGULAR washer. Damn the sales reps for suckering me into that mess. The smell is so nasty now that I am going to the laundry facilities 12 miles away just to wash my clothes.

My HE3 Kenmore machine stinks.. literally, Tuesday, 17 February 2009

I bought my Kenmore He3 washing machine in Oct. 2002. I was very excited about it and the dryer as I felt they were great and easy to load, etc. Then about a year ago I noticed an odor coming from the machine. It smells somewhat like the bottom of a damp laundry basket only much worse and also my clothes, if left in the washer too long also smelled that way. The odor has gotten so strong that it has stunk up my whole house. I have also noticed some grey spots that appear on my clothes. I had my husband pull out the machine to see if there was mold under the machine, but everything checked out. Then I googled Kenmore HE3 Washer "stinks" and boy was I surprised! Evidentially this is a HUGE problem with these washers. Dirty water and suds get up in the machine and mold and mildew.so the machine reeks. This has been a problem with other machines after 2002. This whole problem is caused by a machine design defect as it seems that the bellows do not have holes in them and do not allow for proper drainage. I am having a service technician come out this Thursday and it will be interesting to see what he comes up with. I now have a case number and Sears is going to pay the first $150 for labor and $100 for parts. Then if nothing changes I will have to purchase a new machine. These machines are way over $1000.00 so I would advise anyone who is interested in them to make sure the problem has been fixed or otherwise stay away from these machines as you will be stuck with an albatross that not only takes up room, but will stink up the whole house.

I have the HE3 Washer and dryer pair.. I have had nothing but misery with both. Haing paid almost $2000.00 for the set I have been very disappointed. One of the ballasts broke off in the washing machine just after the one year warranty. Sears refused to pay for it. I went to the store where I bought it and talked to the manager.. (He's a great guy). He fixed the machine at his expense. I also had a probelm with a Sears repairman.. There was a pencil stuck in the washer and it wouldn't spin.. the repairman was here about 12 minutes.. I was charged 45 minutes and $5.00 extra for parts... I saw no 'extra parts' he used the same screws that he took out.. The only tool he used was a screw driver... Hmmm if you charge $5.00 extra for each customer seen, assuming the repairman sees 5 people a day, that would be $25.00 a day... or $125.00 a week... or $600.00 a month. Hmmm... How about that. When I called to ask about the $5.00 charge I was given the run around, I asked to speak to the supervisor who refused to give her name. I never got an answer. For me and Sears? Never again. Check your repair receipts and go to Maytag.. The dryer almost burned down my house.. the thermostat broke by the 2nd year.. I put my dryer on for 20 mins before I went to bed (I know stupid) I woke up about 4 hours later and heard my dryer still on. I went to turn it off and I couldn't touch the dryer it was so hot! Then when I used it again on any setting it would go on forever. I called a repairman (Not Sears) and they said the 'Thermister' needed replacing. With this done I can use some of the auto settings but not all. To have my dryer back to original condition I have to replace the entire front panel at a cost of over $400.00.. I thought that paying as much as I did for these appliances I would be worry free for years! Hah!
