In Use

This washing machine is a great investment. Although a bit more expensive than other comparable models the money it saves on electricity and water will more than make up the difference over the life of the machine. It is easy to operate and does a great job getting clothes clean. The direct drive mechanism makes it very quiet and Smart Drive mechanism monitors clothes movement to adjust the agitator for the proper motion. This machine is highly recommended!

Hate Fisher Paykel Washer!, Sunday, 29 May 2011

For the 2 years and 2 days it worked great. Once out of warranty, nothing but problems.
Spent $200 having a service tech to look at it. He said a safety pin clogged the line. 2 months later same thing. Called service dept again and seems all they were interested in, was getting our credit card number. So at our wits end, with the smell of moldy water and flooded laundry room. We pulled the thing out to the porch, took it all apart and dislodged something jamming the mechanism for the drain line again. Decided to keep it and put it back. Now a month later we are cleaning a flooded laundry room floor again. Iv had it! Going to get a less expensive one, like we have had it the past. DEFINITELY NOT A FISHER PAYKEL!

Never thought I would get excited about laundry, Monday, 06 April 2009

Our old washer is broken again. This time it is something involved with the motor or pulley. I have already replaced the clutch twice in ten years and didn't want to go through through the hassle of diagnosing and fixing it again. Getting rid of the old noisy washer, and hunting for another potential old tech machine was not an exciting prospect for me. Went to the local Sears outlet store and started reading the manuals on all the washers and wasn't impressed. Then I found the Fisher & Paykel GWL15. It definitely didn't look like the others, but I was impressed with the tech developments they made in the machine, and was priced just a little higher than the low end models. When we got it home and hooked it up, I wasn't sure it was working. I couldn't hear anything until I put my ear up to the plastic lid. This thing is super quiet! And when the spin cycle starts up, it's like a little jet engine! Really cool! Digital controls that sense everything and the super fast spin almost drys the clothes completely. The dryer takes 20 minutes to dry clothes that used to take over an hour with our old washer. Plus as I start reading the specs about 1/4 the energy use and water, plus the 1/3 real world dry time is a great bonus! No old tech parts to break down and saves me money, why isn't this washer being advertised during the super bowl? Can't wait to buy the dryer next!!!
