Overview

Editor Rating 3.7  This large capacity washing machine is perfect for a big family. Although priced on the expensive side, the Kenmore Oasis HE 27062 is good value for the money. Its advanced technology makes it an efficient washing machine engaging plenty of choices for wash cycles.  However, the difficulty in leveling this machine is one of its major flaws.

 Full Review

The Kenmore Oasis HE 27062 is a top load washing machine with a super large capacity - 4.5 cu/ ft. It has an amazing 17 wash presets including Permanent Press, Delicates, Hand Wash, Mixed Colors, Wrinkle-Free, Soaking, and Cotton.

The Kenmore Oasis HE 27062 has 3 spin speeds and an automatic water level mechanism. This allows you to make a simple setting on the washing machine without worrying about water levels. As for water temperature, it can be set to one of five levels.

The electronic controls on the Kenmore Oasis HE 27062 are easy to operate and are stylishly modern. They combine touch controls and rotary controls and include a delayed start timer and a time remaining indicator.

The Kenmore Oasis HE 27062 is only available in white and the tub is made from heavy-duty stainless steel. This guarantees years of reliable service.

On the negative side, the washing machine can be difficult to level. Unless perfectly leveled, the machine has a tendency to "walk" which can damage the interior plastic tub. We feel this is a serious design flaw in an otherwise respectable machine. The Kenmore Oasis HE 27062 comes with a one year Parts and Labor warranty.

In Use

The Oasis HE 27062 is stylish machine that looks great in the laundry room. The controls are very well laid out and easy to use. The large capacity tub can handle the largest loads you can give it. It is also a very quiet machine as long as it is properly leveled. Unfortunately, this is not an easy process, and an unleveled washing machine is noisy and can damage the interior plastic tub.

There is a widespread problem with this machine and Sears will not fix them. It seems like most people have the issue just after the warranty expires. There is a pending class action suit....AVOID this expensive POS machine.

5 years old and it's history. Mechanically still viable, but because of the cost of a little box of plastic and wires in the control panel, it's not worth fixing. Sorry to hear Sears won;t stand behind it. Typical of large corporations these days. After Sears has been through the money problems they've been through, they're lucky to be in business. They ought to cherish every customer they can get. Out of warranty or not. IT'S PLASTIC AND WIRES! How much can that cost?

This washer is by far the biggest piece I have ever seen. It was the Top of the line I was told "LIE" I went through 3 main boards (lucky for me I got the extended warranty. Sears did come out to fix it each time and even fixed the pump twice (leaks). It has never worked on high speed and only will finish without the dreaded UL on med or low speed. Next time I go to sears for a washer I think I will just burn 500 dollars then go get one at Lowe's at least they have decent customer satisfaction. I can not believe a corporation as large as sears will not take care of its customers and I will never by Kenmore again they will not even talk to you about it they tell you to go through your local sears store. What a load of crap. I am all for buying American but it will not be a Kenmore or anything at sears they have to be the worst corp. for customer satisfaction.

This piece of junk never worked properly. Had it serviced under warranty and a recall. Every time they (SEARS) services it, less features work, and many errors in the cycles that do still work. Whatever happened to Sears "customer satisfaction guarantee" ? Oh, forgot that they are K-Mart now.

Buy this washing machine if you like wrinkled clothes that are all tied together at the end of the cycle. I don't know how it can be energy efficient when the cycles are all so much longer than the ones on my old machine were. Everything is so wrinkled when it comes out of the machine that you have to put it into the dryer which only takes the wrinkles partially out. How is that energy efficient? I used to be able to hang up some of my clothes to dry. If I could I would trade it for my old machine and it was only working on one cycle. I miss my old machine!

I keep getting the F1 error code. I do not qualify for an upgrade to repair this agrevating problem. The control panel is defective and Sears wants $400 plus service call of $129 to repair it. The machine is only 3 years old. If this is Sears Elite model, they need to pay for the upgrades and let up get back to washing instead of making phone calls to someone who does not seem to care.

At least a load a day for 3 1/2 yrs. and just had my first problem. The drain motor needed replacing because we were hearing a loud rattling noise during high speed spin. Cost 50 dollars. 5 min. job. Just tipped it forward so the hoses would balance it and no water would spill out, removed the back and switched it out. Great machine. Great design. Love it. Seems to be getting a bum wrap online. Mine has been great.

Hugely disappointed in this machine. Have to wash towels twice to get clean. Does not take odours out of clothes nor does it remove basic dirt. Leaves residue because of the poor rinsing. Max out features on every load so takes 99 minute per load and still are not clean.

Have to agree with poster who wanted to give a BIG FAT ZERO!!!

Don't know why Consumer Reports rates them so high. Sure don't work in the "real live world"

I have owned a kenmore top load for about 2.5 years. Got the F1 after about a year of use. It was infrequent and I ignored it. Now its consistent and becoming more frequent.

It tests my patience daily and I think I'm going to join a class action suite against the maker. If Kenmore and Sears were a class act company they would fix this!!! I'm spreading some dirt..... Too bad my washer won't be any help cleaning it up.

I have had the oasis washer for about 2 1/2 years. About a month ago, it started flashing the F1 code. Since I did not purchase the extended warranty, I called our local appliance repairman. He came out and looked at it. Inside the front panel of the washer is a booklet that explains all the error codes. F1 was the main motor control assembly. He said he would call to see how much the part would cost and get back with me. With tax, the part would be around $200.00. His service calls are $60.00. After reading all the reviews, I'm not sure I want to put that much money back into this machine. I think I will cut my losses and invest in a simple, low end machine from somewhere else.

Do not buy this machine. After experiencing an F1 problem, we had the control panel replaced. Now at 17 minutes, we get the UL code. Sears will not back up this product after the one year warranty runs out even though there have been hundreds of similar complaints. No recall - spend, spend and spend again and it still doesn't work.

We bought our Oasis in Aug. of 2006. The first machine they delivered lasted a day. They thought it was the circuit board, but repalcing that didn't fix the problem. The service guy couldn't fix it so Sears replaced it with a new machine. I'm glad we bought the extended warranty as we have used it twice and the repair guy is coming out again this Weds. (3-11-09). The second time it went out they replaced the circuit board, now it won't pump the water out.

It looked great when we bought it two years ago. I had to move it in place and actually dented the front panel with my knee while pushing it a few inches on the concrete floor of our garage. I should have returned it then as it was an indicator of how the thing would perform.

Now it beeps and puts out trouble codes every day and the warranty repair service guys Sears send out says there is nothing wrong with it and nothing that they can do. My wife spends hours each day resetting the thing and we have a seventh service appt scheduled in three months.

Sears Appliances? Never again.

My washer was $1,134 and is only 2 and 1/2 years old and three months ago it started flashing F1 after 30 seconds into the cycle. It required me to start the machine over 5 or more times to get one load done. The service man came out to the house and said it was the circut board and it would cost $400 to fix it. Now I'm out $400 on top of the $1,134. Sears is going down hill fast. Do not waste your money on this machine. There are hundreds of complaints about this washer! Check them out online. It doesn't always pay to get the most expensive. Never again!!!

We have had this very expensive model for less than two years. Last week it quit. Repair man charged us $75 to tell us we need $500 worth of repairs. This product is riddled with design flaws and Kenmore refuses to recall the circuit boards, the culprit of most of the problems. Ours needs a new circuit board and pump. The unit severely tangles clothes and doesn't do a good job of getting easy stains out as well. Do yourself a favor and get a $500 model w/o all the bells and whisltes as they are simply trouble waiting to happen. Realize it's a washine machin=e and not a ceterpiece.
